THE CCTV PROJECT
The idea for the CCTV project has been on my mind since 2010 when I visited London. At that time I realized that despite the load of CCTVs on the street, it didn’t prevent me from vandalizing or putting my tiles up. The capital of CCTVS‘ made me think: “If all those cameras are there to watch you, who takes a look at all the digital material produced?”
The answer came to my mind quickly. No one could ever possibly watch all this. It’s all a big fat lie that keeps people dumb and repressed. If everyone watches everything for you, you don`t need to look yourself, you don’t need to think! The cameras don’t make things safer; they make them worse because people stop thinking and caring about what goes on around them.
