About

The international Street Artist Chinagirl Tile works primarily with ceramics. Her works often deal with social and political issues. In 2010 she began her Tiles project, which includes several series of smaller relief tiles that she not only installs in cities but also far away from any sign of civilization. The choice of material and the places, where the work will be installed, elevates her from the classical understanding of the Street Art. Worldwide there are over 180 artworks both in big cities like London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Auckland, Tokyo, Seoul, Cologne, and Vienna, but also in remote areas like the jungles of New Zealand and Colombia, on icy mountains in Ireland, in the marshlands of the remote Scottish Islands, or on sandy beaches in Croatia.

Since 2012 she is also working on large-scale single pieces, their content strongly connecting with the places where they are installed.

Education

Between 2009 and 2013 Chinagirl Tile studied 'Comic and Animation' at Kunstschule Wien but quickly fell in love with the material clay and porcelain and ended up switching to the ceramics department to study ceramics. In 2013 she got her diploma in 'Ceramic and Mouldmaking' and went on to become a student of Viennas Akademie der Bildenden Künste. Where she studied in the 'arts in public spaces' class of Mona Hahn. In 2017 she finished her studies at Akademie der Bildenden Künste and achieved the title of 'Magistra'.
